Brian's Background
Brian has worked in many mission-critical areas for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan’s Medicare plans. Brian serves as the leader for member solutions and administrative costs oversight following roles as Chief of Staff, Medicare Business Administration Budget lead, and CAHPS, HOS, and HEDIS gaps closure leadership within Stars. Brian earned the Robert Seaman Procurement Gauntlet Award following a reimagining and reinventing of the complex and lengthy procurement process in order to realize increased agility, faster time to market, and to improve vendor relations.
Brian and his team delivered a best-in-class and top nationwide pandemic response which led to a break-out in brand equity and ultimately a 5 Star rating due to significant CAHPS improvements. Brian has also worked closely and passionately with the social responsibility teams where he works on community relations, non-profit philanthropic strategies, and direct connections to the senior, caregiver, and provider populations served. Brian has also worked on a variety of evolutions in Care Management and Member Experience, and oversight of AEP and OEP.
Prior, Brian held a number of senior roles at the largest health system in West Michigan, Spectrum Health, and their Priority Health payor subsidiary. Brian was the operational leader responsible for delivering the CEO & CIO’s strategic plans while simplifying and standardizing the ways that this $200M+ information services (IS) operation functioned within a $5B health system thru the design and development of a best-in-class portfolio management system and project management discipline. Before Spectrum Health, Brian held positions in Medical Devices manufacturing and engineering (ATEK) and Automotive engineering (Johnson Controls, Dow Automotive, Cascade Engineering).
Brian enjoys building, coaching, and leading cross-functional teams and mentoring and developing key talent and has built a strong member-centric servicing culture. Brian thrives at the intersection of entrepreneurship and social responsibility and can uniquely develop an agile team culture in large, complex, and matrixed organizations. Brian has a life-long passion for helping others and currently serves as President of the local School Board. Brian was instrumental during the founding of Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids Chapter which provides free emotional healthcare to children, adults, families, and friends on any kind of cancer.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Ferris State University. Together with his wife, Julie, they have one son Derek, who graduated from Cornell and a daughter, Danielle, who graduated from Ferris State with the same degree as her dad! Brian is a passionate outdoorsman and active in local community service.

Delivered transformative engineering/operational leadership deploying enterprise-wide Lean Enterprise solutions. Responsible for management and operations for two manufacturing facilities, Grand Rapids, and the development, on boarding, and launch of facilities in Costa Rica.
Led the launch of the first plastic air intake systems in the Russian market, involving design, tool build, validation, customer interaction, and overseeing profit and loss. Developed and implemented a proprietary assembly process for a new air intake system for Ferrari. Expanded Dow Automotive’s underhood bonding system strategy. Managed Ford Motor Co. program activities, including on-site engineering support, orchestrating design, acoustical testing (both at Ford and with Sound Alliance), cost estimation, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) at manufacturing sites, and product launch at manufacturer and OEM engine and vehicle plants. Responsible for P&L and promoting Dow acoustic technology within Ford's Engine and Vehicle System. Led the team for Full Service Supplier recognition by Ford. Acted as a key member of the Advance Automotive Activities group, guiding strategic OEM sourcing decisions and integrating the Sound Alliance business model.
